Great evening set in a well equipped kitchen and led by Helen who talked us through how to make Doro Wat. A chicken dish cooked with ghee infused with spices. Followed by Injera, a type of pancake/crepe, Misir Wat a lentil dish used later for dipping the pancakes in. Also cooked a deliciously spiced Gomes - Kale dish. Fun evening with only 10 people in the class. Cutting of onions, garlic and ginger and preparation of kale was done by us, rest of the class ingredients were pre measured for us. Lots of wine to sample during the class added to the fun. We got to taste our dishes later which were very tasty. Would recommend a session in The Avenue Cookery School.

Great as a gift for a partner or friend. 3 hours of fun, informative, bottomless wine. Very friendly and helpful instructors. Once you finish you sit down to eat and aren’t rushed out at all even after 10pm you can relax and finish your food/wine

Participated in the gold residential DoE week long course. The cooking lessons were excellent as were the cooking facilities. Evening activities created a team bonding environment. Rather nice comfortable, stylish accommodation.

What a delightful evening. Learning some basic knife skills and making some Vietnamese goodies before we depart for Vietnam in early March. It was good to meet some like minded people wanting to learn new skills. Professionally led ably assisted by team members. Will definitely look at doing something before our next bucket list trip🙂

We decided to sharpen our culinary game and booked a Sunday afternoon knife skills course at The Avenue Cookery School. From the moment we arrived, there was a fantastic buzz as the venue filled up. The setting is intimate, making it easy to catch every detail of the demonstrations. Our tutor, Dan, is clearly passionate about his craft. He walked us through they different types knives, their composition and maintenance before we dove into the practical skills. Mastering the ‘claw’ grip is surprisingly tricky, but Dan’s patient guidance kept us on track! To top it off, our sliced and diced ingredients were transformed into a delicious three-course meal. With a glass of wine (or two) and great company, the afternoon flew by. We even overran slightly because everyone was having such a good time. Highly recommended!

What a truly wonderful day of learning and fun! Diana is incredibly skilled and really knows her stuff, with a natural gift for keeping everyone engaged. The class is hands-on in the best possible way: you watch, you listen, but above all, you cook. Making your own dishes is so satisfying—and the best way to actually remember the recipes. And sharing everything together at the end makes the experience complete. Warm greetings from Italy!

Great experience! All of the chefs (Helen, Alma, George and Luke!) were so, so friendly and helpful. They made an incredibly fun and enjoyable atmosphere. It was a great balance of fun and learning, and the ingredients were great quality too. Food was genuinely really good, and everyone gave great advice on how to achieve the best results with each dish. Can’t wait to book another class! 👨🍳
