Frequently asked questions

How much does a birthday party at Mudchute cost?
The barn is hired by the hour at £100. Animal petting can be added for £125, and donkey rides for £125. There is no admission charge for the farm itself, so guests only pay for what you book.
How many children can the party barn hold?
The converted barn beside the Main Courtyard holds up to 45 people. It is the only room available for parties, so it is worth enquiring early for weekend dates.
Is entry to the farm included for party guests?
Yes. Mudchute does not charge admission, so your guests can explore the 32 acres, meet the animals and use the paddocks and woodland trails before or after the party at no extra cost.
What do we get with the barn hire?
Use of the converted barn for the hours you book, plus exclusive access to Pets Corner during your party. Pets Corner is closed to the public while a barn party is on.
How do the donkey rides work?
Donkey rides cost £125 and run for one hour for up to 15 children. They are suitable for children aged 3 to 5, so they work best for younger birthday groups.
What ages is a Mudchute party suitable for?
The farm suits children of all ages, as the appeal is the animals and the open space rather than a fixed activity programme. The donkey rides add-on is the one element limited by age, at 3 to 5 years.
Is party food provided?
Catering is not included in the barn hire. Mudchute Kitchen, the family-run cafe in the Main Courtyard, serves home-cooked food and cakes, and the events team can talk through what suits your booking.
How do we get there and is there parking?
There is no visitor parking on site, so public transport is the easiest option. The nearest DLR stations are Crossharbour, Mudchute and Island Gardens, and the D3, D6 and 135 buses stop nearby.
How do I book a party?
Send an enquiry with your preferred date, the number of children and how long you want the barn for. The events team will come back with the booking form and party leaflet, and can tailor the day around your budget.

Super city farm with well cared for farm animals. Pigs, sheep, cows, donkeys, horses and llamas to name a few ! Lovely setting and very easy to get to. You can park for free for three hours in the Asda car park near Crossharbour DLR Station.

I love spending time in this place when I want to feel peaceful! It was surprisingly to see that peaceful place in London and it is just a walking distance from my house! Amazing to spend time with children! You can buy organic eggs etc from their store and feed animals with bait.

Had such a lovely day out at Mudchute Park and Farm with the family! It’s a hidden gem in London, you wouldn’t expect such a big, peaceful farm right in the city. The kids absolutely loved seeing all the animals up close, especially the goats, sheep, and horses. It’s really hands-on and perfect for children to explore and learn while having fun. The whole place has a calm, relaxed vibe, with plenty of space to walk around and enjoy nature. Great for a break from the busy city life, and ideal for a family day out. Best of all, it’s free to visit, which makes it even better! Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something fun, simple, and enjoyable with the kids.

We had such a peaceful and wholesome day at Mudchute Farm with the kids – truly a hidden gem in London. The animals were lovely and well cared for, and the kids especially enjoyed feeding them. You can buy a bag of animal feed for £1.50 from the courtyard next to the café, which made the experience even more interactive and fun. One of the best parts is the beautiful view of Canary Wharf in the background – such a unique mix of city and countryside all in one place. The farm is spacious, calm, and not overcrowded, which made it perfect for a relaxed day out with children. There’s plenty of open space for them to explore and enjoy nature. Best of all, entry is completely free, which makes it an amazing budget-friendly day out for families. We parked at Asda, where you can park for up to 3 hours, and it’s only about a 2–3 minute walk to the farm – super convenient with kids. Overall, it’s a simple but special day out – fresh air, animals, and lovely views. We’ll definitely be visiting again 💛

Underrated gem. Open and free to the public. Mudchute has a decent range of farm animals living their best lives. There's an area tucked in the corner nearby the cafeteria that sell animal feed. People are free to interact with the furry residents. Most animals are friendly, though I'd watch out for the llamas. Look at them the wrong way and you're on the list. There's a dedicated space just for humans to let their dogs off leash with plenty of water bowls that are always full. You can choose from a handful of trails to trek. All on easy mode, though I'd suggest footwear you don't mind getting muddy. The place is called Mudchute for a reason. The dog usually gets a hose down after a hiking session here. Dog joy rating: 7/10
