We have been attending HGC for over 3 years now starting off at the toddler group. Maisie’s strength and flexibility for her age is advanced because of the skills she has learnt in gymnastics and has benefited her ability to take part in any sport. It has built her confidence, self esteem and concentration. My younger daughter is now in pre school and they both run in every Saturday morning. The foundations it is giving them is exactly what I was looking for. The coaches are friendly and really supportive. They are attentive and they give their full attention to the students. My daughters are obsessed with Jodie and Lily. It has a family feel and I’d recommend the club to everyone.

I have to agree with Deans post. My daughter was often forgotten about and ended up with another girl in the same class but a bit older (9) trying to help her as the very young teachers were more focused on the children that were better then her, making them excel while she was getting left behind. She spent more time waiting for a turn or not knowing what to do then actually doing much gymnastics. She was learning very little. We are now with a different club and the difference is amazing. She is excelling as I’d hoped she would with the right guidance.

I was very disappointed with the quality of coaching at HGC. The trainers appear to be very young (approximately 16–18 years old) and lack the necessary experience to effectively work with children, which was evident throughout our time there. On some occasions the class started late because the trainers were still reviewing the lesson agenda after the session had already begun, leaving the children standing around with nothing to do. In addition, there were typically two trainers managing up to 12 children, but the children were often unclear on what they were supposed to be doing. Rather than demonstrating activities, the trainers would simply explain them verbally to groups of very young children (as young as 5-7), who would then be left to attempt the exercises without proper guidance. Unsurprisingly, this often led to children losing focus, standing idly by the apparatus, or engaging in disruptive behaviour. With so many children to supervise, the trainers struggled to provide individual support or even notice what many of the children were doing. My child began gymnastics at age 2, but unfortunately, the lack of structure and discipline in these sessions caused them to lose interest over time. When my child asked for help, the trainers were frequently unable to assist due to the number of children they had to manage. After three years, I ultimately made the difficult decision to withdraw my child from HGC and enrol them in a more professional program that provides the structure, guidance, and support young athletes need. It is disappointing to note that, despite voicing these concerns, the owner did not appear to take them seriously.

They don’t care about the boys, and the trainers are only 18 and 15 years old. Naturally, at that age, they don’t have the experience or maturity to know how to properly deal with kids. I raised my concerns about my child being treated differently — he was the only one who was ignored, and she didn’t even care.

My daughter started with the club from the day it opened and my son now also attends. It is a fantastic club with amazing and supportive coaches. It is very well run and so inclusive. The gym now has its own purpose built facility which is fantastic! Both my children who are now 11 and 8 look forward to all their sessions. My daughter now does acro and tumbling and the progress she has made is incredible, even making it to the national finals. During this pandemic the coaches have continued to support the gymnasts, they have run zoom classes, sent video training/stretches, got the children involved with fun competitions and also got the older ones involved in putting together their own videos. The coaches have not only been running zoom gymnastics classes they have also asked other professionals to run classes for the children including dance. Plus they have had training from a World Champion! The support and care has been truly amazing and I'm so thankful my 2 are part of the club.
