What is the party?

A private 45 to 50 minute guided cave tour with spooky stories and a few low tunnels, either on its own or followed by a hot or cold buffet in the cave function room.

How much is it?

The tour-only party is £135 for up to 15 children, then £7 per additional child. The tour-with-food party is £255 for up to 15 children. Both include 3 adults, with any extra adults at £9 each.

What age is it suitable for?

Parties are recommended for 8th birthdays and above.

How many children, and can more join?

There is a minimum of 15 children, and smaller groups pay the flat rate. More children can join, though if the caves are catering they ask for a week's notice.

Can we bring a cake and our own food?

You are welcome to bring your own birthday cake, and the team can slice it and provide plates, cutlery and napkins. Other outside food is not allowed, as catering is provided by the caves café.

What is included?

A private guided tour, a PDF party invitation, a certificate for each guest and three adult places. The food package also adds a hot or cold buffet, a gift for the birthday child and unlimited squash and water.

Is anything worth knowing before booking?

The caves have uneven, cobble-like floors and may not suit anyone with claustrophobia or a fear of the dark, and it is cooler underground, so wear sensible footwear and warm clothes. Please arrive 15 minutes before your tour.

Where is it, and when is it open?

It is on Old Hill, Chislehurst (BR7 5NL), open Wednesday to Sunday plus bank holidays and every day during local school holidays, with free car and coach parking.

   An awesome experience to learn about the extensive history of the caves. It was fun, educational and entertaining. Make sure you wear good shoes. It’s great for the superstitious and the just a little stitious people too. We arrived right at the perfect time to get on the tour at the top of the hour, so there was very little wait. Taz was an AMAZING tour guide, probably the best. He should have his own cult following.

   Really enjoyed the visit to Chislehurst Caves. It’s quite a unique experience and definitely not your typical day out. The guided tour is the highlight. Ours was really engaging, with a good mix of history and a few interesting stories along the way. Walking through with the lamps adds to the atmosphere as well, makes it feel a bit more real. It’s surprisingly vast down there, even though you only see part of it. At times it’s a bit eerie, but in a good way. Worth noting you can’t wander around on your own, but honestly it makes sense once you’re down there. Overall, a really interesting place and well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

   I recently visited Chislehurst Caves and had a fantastic experience. The caves themselves are absolutely fascinating — full of history, atmosphere, and stories that really bring the place to life. Walking through the tunnels feels like stepping back in time. A big part of what made the visit so enjoyable was our tour guide, Alex. He was funny, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. He shared so much interesting information in a way that was easy to follow and genuinely entertaining. You could tell he was passionate about the history of the caves, and that enthusiasm made the whole tour even better. He struck the perfect balance between being informative and keeping things lighthearted, which made the experience memorable. I would highly recommend visiting. However, it was a shame that during the tour there were several young children crying and causing disruptions. Because the tour is so informative and detailed, it’s important to be able to clearly hear what’s being explained. At times, it was difficult to catch everything Alex was saying due to the noise. Personally, I think it would improve the experience for everyone if there were an age guideline — perhaps not allowing children under 10 — as the tour really requires attention and listening to fully appreciate it. Overall, it was a brilliant visit, made especially enjoyable by an excellent guide. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in history and a unique underground adventure.

   Super little tour around these privately owned caves. Date from about 8000yrs ago, but most of the mining of limestone (of which these caves are made) occurred in the 12th and 19th centuries i believe, and acted as an air raid shelter, as well as living space for some (for upto 150,000 people or more at its peak during World War 2). Good if you have a couple of hours at hand...interesting. Knowledgeable guides.

   Fun experience exploring the caves in London! No pictures allowed in the caves so you'll be able to take back home only memories... if you don't want risk the tour fully booked you better but tickets in advance otherwise you'll have to wait for probably hour for the next tour.
