What an excellent day out. This is a true conservation site putting the animals first in an environment that suits them. Free parking with an entrance fee of £27 per person, pre book on line is quick and easy. Site open from 10 until 5. Easy walking gentle slopes great for buggies or wheelchairs. You can get so close to the animals and they're hardly bothered by you. Very decent cafe at the entrance, maybe a bit pricey, £6 for a sausage roll, but it's one of the best I've ever had. Plenty of toilets on site as you wander round. Shout out to Benjamin who did today's gorilla talk at 14.30 absolutely brilliant thank you.

A work in progress.....still building and planning. Some aspects brilliant, the bear forest is a wonderful experience. The mear cats in the walled garden( looks original from the original property,) and the weaver birds are a good watch. The animals seem to have comfortable and well thought out enclosures. The gardens are in process and lots of places to sit. Sadly, there are less animals than the original zoo, where is the nocturnal area and the reptiles, penguins and sealions? The footpaths are full of potholes ( no getting away from these) and full of water and mud. There are plenty of toilets. The cafes appear cramped and when waiting for your drink end up blocking the cafe. But plenty of outside seating. Unless you have children with you, would say 2 to 3 hours is enough time to spend here until it is developed further.

A great day out for all the family! I visited today with my 2 youngest boys, 7 & 11. It was busy getting into the carpark and through the main entrance as it is the Easter holidays and one of the hottest days of the year so far. That being said, the parking attendants got everyone moving quickly, and there were plenty of staff at the main entrance to guide people through. We had pre-booked so went to a mobile staffmember who scanned us through quickly once we reached the front of the queue. There were also staff throughout the queue with puppets and another with real ostrich feathers, to entertain and engage with the public. There were also portable toilets for those queuing to get in. Once inside the crowds dispersed and it didn't feel so busy. As it was Easter they had an egg hunt which my 7 year old was keen on. Large wooden eggs around the site with a stamp to stamp your card which we were given when we came through the main entrance. We had a leisurely stroll around the site seeing lots of animals ,and along the way there were plenty of staff and volunteers around who were very informative and knowledgeable. We took our own picnic so I can't comment on food outlets, although we each had an ice-cream from the hut after bear woods, £4 each for a single scoop and waffle cone. There are a few play areas around and a bare foot trail, which has a tap to wash feet at the end, and there was some tissue but probably worth taking a towel to dry feet properly. As we left we walked past the gift shop which is not huge, but was very busy, I can't comment on price as we didn't go in. Overall a fab day out.

It was fantastic to see a lot of animals in the same place and we were really happy to see them live freely in their space. We went by bus and the location was easy to find as well. My son had a great time watching all the amazing animals and having play times in everywhere we walked. Really recommend for the children and adults to have a great family time and you will find so many picnic places too.

Fantastic place to visit, well priced, lots of staff about and happy to strike up conversation and talk about the zoo and animals. There was a lot of construction work ongoing through our visit but most attractions were not affected at all and this was clearly advertised and communicated on their website. The enclosures all seem very appropriate for the animals, well sized and full of enrichment. Despite the cold the animals were active and thriving.
