If your child’s birthday is coming up, you are probably wondering how to make sure that their birthday party is the best one yet. We get that. Here at Partyfind, we understand that organising a kid’s party can be a chaotic and time consuming task – particularly if you are trying to juggle looking after your child, work and everything else life throws at us!

Don’t fear though, we know exactly what it takes to put on the best kids birthday party possible so to help you with yours, we have put together some top tips that are guaranteed to make your little one have the best day ever!

Choosing the right venue

Before you can begin planning the perfect party for your little one, you will need to find a suitable venue – and there are a lot of choices out there! The easiest option might be to open your front door and host the party at home; however that then requires needing to bring in all of the entertainment, sourcing food, creating party bags and then managing the dreaded clean up afterwards!

Instead, an increasing number of parents are opting for the ease of booking an outsourced venue. Not only does this make things significantly easier in terms of the time taken to organise but it also means everything can be catered for your little one for you. Many restaurants offer kids birthday parties, as do places like soft play areas and family attractions; quite often they will offer a set fee per child attending which will then cover everything from entry to the attractions to food and drink. Alternatively you could look at hiring a local village hall for a few hours, which will provide you with a bigger space than your house whilst still giving you complete freedom on the decorations, activities and food.

Decorations

No birthday party will be complete without decorations, so if you are looking to brighten up your kid’s birthday parties then there are lots of ways to do so – no matter the venue. Whilst there are many pre-made decorations you can purchase from the shop, if you want to make yours unique then get your arts and crafts skills ready…

Empty cardboard toilet tubes make great 3D lettering, allowing you to personalise your message. Simply colour them in and cut out the shape of the required letter and you can get as quirky as you like, spelling out any personalised message you want.

You could also create a balloon shower for your child for when they enter the party room. Simply use some tissue or crepe paper to create a net that can hold the balloons above the chosen door and then when your child opens it, the balloons will come raining down on them in a fantastic surprise.

Activities and games

With the venue selected and the decorations in place, then it is time to start planning out the activities and games that your guests will be taking part in. When it comes to party games, the staples of kid’s birthday parties still remain strong; pass the parcel, duck duck goose and pin the tail on the donkey are all firm favourites for kids of all ages.

Using a pre-booked venue, their staff and facilities will be able to provide you with the perfect solution to keeping your guests entertained but if you want to get a bit more creative though and organise your own games in addition, then there are a lot of extras you can incorporate.

A popular game that guests of all ages (even the adults!) love is doughnut on a string. It’s a very easy game to set up and is a fun and hilarious way to entertain everyone. Simply tie some doughnuts to ribbons and hang them from something sturdy. The aim of the game is to eat the doughnut in its entirety without it falling to the ground – easy, right? Well the challenge here is that no hands are allowed! The person who manages to eat the whole doughnut in full the fastest wins.

If your kids party is around Halloween, then add a spooky game to proceedings; mummy wrap! Separate the guests into small groups and give each group a roll of toilet paper. The goal then is to wrap up one child as best as they can – the team who use all of the paper the fastest wins.

Food and drink

After all that fun and running around, your guests will be hungry and thirsty. If you have hired out a venue, then they will more than likely be covering refreshments however if you want to cater for yourself then there are a lots of easy solutions for you to choose from.

You can’t go wrong with Pizza. Kids of all ages love the cheesy goodness and it is a very easy and cheap dish to provide which is why it is a go-to solution for many kids’ birthday parties. A buffet is always the best solution when it comes to feeding a large number of guests, so add in things like chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, veggie pots and mini sandwiches and you will ensure that everyone will be catered for no matter their diet. For some sweet treats add in things such as chocolate, jelly, popcorn, cookies and ice cream and you’ll be considered the best party host of all time!

When it comes to drinks, fizzy soda is always popular but with all that sugar you could be facing some lively guests so include soft drinks such as water and juice too.
