Kids' birthday party venue in London

Ruislip Park Stables, Fore Street, Pinner, UK

Family-run stables where the children ride out through Ruislip Woods, then groom the ponies and feed them carrots

About Ruislip Park Stables

Ruislip Park Stables is a small, family-run riding stables on Fore Street in Pinner, formerly Jacks Riding Stables, and it has been leading rides through Ruislip Woods for over thirteen years. A pony party is riding out in the woods with a ride leader on each pony, followed by grooming and feeding the ponies carrots — for most children it is their first time near a horse. Parties take seven to twelve children and run in three slots a day at weekends and in the school holidays. There is an outdoor picnic area you can use for three-quarters of an hour afterwards, though you bring the food and the cake yourselves. It is muddy, the ponies are gentle, and it is not the party for anyone who minds getting dirty

Frequently asked questions

How much does a pony party cost?
There are two options. Thirty minutes of riding plus fifteen minutes of grooming and feeding the ponies carrots is £32 per child. Forty-five minutes of riding plus the same grooming and feeding is £46 per child.
How many children can come?
Minimum seven children, maximum twelve. They can take more than twelve, but the riding would then have to be done in two groups. They aim to get every child riding at the same time where they can.
When do parties run?
Parties run on weekends and during school holidays, in three slots a day: 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Ask the children to arrive ten minutes early, because the stables run to a tight schedule and lateness eats into your party time.
What should the children wear?
Long, comfortable trousers — leggings or jogging bottoms. Skirts, dresses and shorts are not allowed. Closed shoes: boots, wellies or sturdy trainers. Open-toe shoes, sandals and flip-flops are not allowed, and children who turn up dressed unsuitably will be refused. The riding goes through Ruislip Woods, so expect mud.
Do the children wear helmets?
Every child wears a helmet. Helmets are not designed to fit elaborate hairstyles or large hair accessories, so a low ponytail or French plaits work best for children with long hair.
Is food provided, and can we bring a cake?
No food is provided. There is an outdoor picnic area you can use for up to forty-five minutes after the pony activities, and you bring your own snacks and cake. It is free if you have nine or more riders; below that there is a £20 charge. Bring bin bags, a knife for the cake and matches for the candles — the stables cannot provide them, and you take all your rubbish home.
Can parents stay and watch?
One adult per riding child, and no more. Siblings and extra adults cannot come. Parents who want to walk alongside during the ride should wear wellies or boots they do not mind getting muddy.
What happens if it rains?
Parties go ahead whatever the weather. If conditions are very bad and you would rather not, give as much notice as you can and they will try to move you, though they cannot guarantee it. The balance is due seven full days before the party, and once numbers are confirmed and paid the booking cannot be changed and the payment is non-refundable.
Are they licensed and insured?
The stables are fully licensed, insured and qualified, with over thirteen years of experience leading rides through Ruislip Woods. They were formerly known as Jacks Riding Stables. They also state plainly that horse riding is a risk sport and you take part at your own risk.

Ruilsip park farm is for sure the place to go if you love horses and to ride. The horses are beautiful, the hacking around the forest is safe and picturesque And most important to me is the ultimate love and care the family business give and show for all their horses and ponies, it’s a safe haven for these wonderful creatures where they all have a home for life never sold and live there’s lives till and through retirement. Thank you Natalie for the great hacks we have xxx Daria EDGINTON.

My husband and I had our first horse riding lesson here with Natalie, and it was such a wonderful experience. She was amazing and patient, knowledgeable, and very encouraging throughout the lesson. We learned so much about horses and felt comfortable and confident the whole time. Thank you Natalie for making our first lesson so enjoyable. We’re really looking forward to coming back!

Sunday just gone, my husband and I took our 24 months boy, Joshua for his first ever pony trek. Omg he was an absolute star, he loved it! We got there early so he got to see the horses and to let him know what was happening. As it was our first time, we didnt know what structure they had, weather it was around the woods or within the grounds, but once we knew we both got straight in, taking photos and videos whilst Joshua enjoyed his pony trek. After his trek, he fed and groomed a beautiful pony, inwhich he enjoyed so much, he absolutely loves animals and this experience helped him even more to be kind and careful towards animals. All staff were brilliant, all the young girls who volunteer here were so sweet and spoke to us about the place, the horses and about them selfs, they should so proud of them selves.. 1 for doing such lovely and humble volunteer job and 2 for the knowledge they have. Thank you everyone who made this beautiful experience come alive. Definitely will return for another pony trek.

A big thank you to the staff and volunteers at Ruislip Park Stables. From arrival to the time we left it was positive and fun for my child. We booked a 30 min ride through the forest plus feeding and grooming session. It was fun and my child learned more about horses. I highly recommend this place and I have already been asked to come back. One word of advice: bring some boots or Wellies. The trails are quite muddy!

We did the 45-minute woodland ride with grooming and feeding and it was honestly the best thing ever! The girls leading us were SO sweet and friendly like instantly made us feel at ease and let us take a million photos and videos. The horses were so calm, gorgeous, and just full of personality. Seriously, everyone there was amazing and it made the whole experience unforgettable. Can’t recommend it enough!
