Pony parties at a family-run Byfleet riding stables - grooming, pony painting and lead-rein rides in the sand school, with a lunch option in a decorated party area

About Holly Bush Stables

Holly Bush Stables is a small family-run children's riding and livery yard tucked between the River Wey and River Mole at Byfleet, near West Byfleet station - and its pony parties are built for beginners, with the emphasis firmly on play and confidence. Children groom, pamper and paint the calm, friendly ponies, then take safe lead-rein rides with games in the sand school, with parents welcome to muck in with the grooming. Two simple per-child formats cover it: a two-hour party with lunch - pizza, jelly, ice cream and drinks in a decorated party area - or a shorter hour-and-a-half version without food, both from ten children. It is run by Kate and her team, fully insured, and warmly reviewed (4.5 stars on Google from a small local base). The stables' own site sits behind a bot-check so its pages can be slow to verify, but the operation is active on Facebook and reachable directly by phone - enquire with your date and numbers

We held a Pony Party at Holly Bush Stables, and it was a brilliant afternoon! After a briefing, the children were happy brushing the horses and plaiting their hair, before heading to the grass paddock for some riding games. All rounded off by pizza and pudding, before heading home. The horses were amazing, calm and not phased by all the children. The children all thoroughly enjoyed it, and Kate makes it very easy to organise for the parents too.

Awful experience! Visiting family in Esher, and rider myself, I wanted to show some horses to my niece. We called on forehand the stables and were told it was ok to come. So we went. But once there, we were told to leave as we were not allowed on the property said a young dark blond girl. So we left. And I would like to share my awful experience on this new year day. Shame on you Holly Bush Stables. I visited stables all over the world and this experience is the worst experience ever! Shame on you.

Holly Bush Stables is absolutely amazing. We take our sons horse riding here, and it has been such a positive experience for our whole family. One of our sons has autism and he truly loves it — being around the horses and riding here has been so calming and confidence-boosting for him. Kate is just incredible. She is so kind, patient, and understanding, and genuinely such a wonderful human. She makes everyone feel welcome and supported, and you can really tell how much she cares about both the children and the horses. We couldn’t recommend this riding school enough. It’s a special place, and we feel so lucky to have found it.

My granddaughter had her second lesson today. It was my first visit with her and I can only praise the instructor. She had a great approach to teaching. Obviously very experienced with an encouraging, lighthearted and caring attitude. Both my wife and I were more than impressed.

My daughter had the best 6th birthday party at Holly Bush Stables, Kate was absolutely brilliant, I highly recommend, we will certainly be back for my younger daughter's birthday! The only problem is I am now being pestered for riding lessons :)
